ALUMNI STORY
Vedrana Šćiran
Finished studies at EFRI: undergraduate study Finance and Banking and graduate study Managment.
Current Work Position: Communities and Events Lead in Philip Morris Zagreb
"I view study time at EFRI as a wonderful time, where my knowledge and effort were appreciated. It is where I got the opportunity to study and practice abroad, meet wonderful people, make friends and partly experience 'real life'. It certainly built me up as a person, and showed me that hard work and dedication pay off, the two values which I continue to live by today."
1How did completing your studies during the economic crisis influenced your career development and your position today?
It was hard to understand that even though you were great as a student, the market simply did not need you at the time and that in addition to good grades and awards, experience was needed, or something else that would make your resume stand out in the sea of others. But the experience of finding a job at the time only made me more confident in myself and my abilities. I continued to develop beyond my studies, invested in my knowledge, read and learned. I decided to accept jobs at any place I could develop and gain experience, not necessarily make money and have accepted jobs no matter were they in my city or in my country. I believe that my whole experience has strengthened me, both privately and in business, and I can proudly talk about these times, that have in the end brought me to my current position.
2How do you think studying at EFRI has influenced your thinking and approach to work and life in general?
I view study time at EFRI as a wonderful time, where my knowledge and effort were appreciated. It is where I got the opportunity to study and practice abroad, meet wonderful people, make friends and partly experience 'real life'. It certainly built me up as a person, and showed me that hard work and dedication pay off, the two values which I continue to live by today.
3How do you see the alumni community you are in? How do you perceive your role in it and how do you feel the EFRI Alumni should develop?
I would definitely like to be more active in the alumni community. I consider it an ideal platform for sharing experiences between alumni and for sharing knowledge with students.
